Privacy Policy

Documintz keeps your scans on your iPhone or in a folder you choose. There is no account, and we keep no copy of your documents.

1. Information We Collect

Documintz has no account, so we hold no name, email address or profile for you.

• Scanned Documents: Documents you scan stay on your device or in the folder you choose. We keep no copy of them, their text or their AI analysis
• Support Messages: If you write to us, we keep your message and your email address to answer you
• Technical Data: The app and this website make the technical connections described in sections 2 and 3

2. How We Process Your Documents

Your document processing follows a privacy-conscious pipeline:

On-Device Processing

Text extraction (OCR) is performed entirely on your device using Apple Vision framework. No document images are sent to external servers for OCR.

AI Analysis

AI features run only on your device, on iPhones that support Apple Intelligence.

Local Storage

Scanned documents are stored as compressed PDFs on your device. If you choose an export folder, such as one in iCloud Drive, the app also saves PDF and Markdown files there, and that storage provider's terms apply. We do not upload documents or thumbnails to our servers.

Technical Connections From the App

The app still contains account code that we do not use, so it is not fully offline:

• Each time it starts, it contacts Clerk, our authentication provider. Clerk receives technical data such as your IP address and a technical app identifier, and no document data
• After a scan, it sends a request with no document data to Convex, our backend provider
• When it reprocesses a file in a connected folder, it can send that file's title, file name and size to Convex

Without an account, Convex refuses these requests and nothing from them is saved to our database.

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics or third-party tracking. Cloudflare hosts the website and processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect it.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under Swiss nFADP and EU GDPR, we process your personal data based on:

• Contract Performance: Processing necessary to answer your support requests
• Legitimate Interest: For operating and protecting the app and this website
• Legal Obligation: When required to comply with applicable laws

5. International Data Transfers

We use service providers that may process data outside Switzerland and the EU. Our subprocessors include:

All transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards as required by Swiss and EU law, including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

6. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we receive to:

• Answer your support messages
• Keep the app and this website working and secure

7. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only:

• With our subprocessors listed above, solely to provide the service
• When required by law, regulation, or legal process
• To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with prior notice)

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:

• Documents stored locally on your device with iOS-level encryption
• All network communication over HTTPS/TLS
• On-device OCR processing (document images never leave your device)

9. Your Rights

Under Swiss nFADP and EU GDPR, you have the following rights:

• Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
• Right to Restriction: Request restriction of processing of your data
• Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Right to Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time for consent-based processing

10. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary:

• Local documents: Stored on your device until you delete them
• Support communications: 3 years

11. Children's Privacy

Documintz is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
